THE BIG ADVENTURE BEGINS SOON

SO WHERE ARE WE GOING IN THE USA?

Here’s a quick comment on why I was disgusted with the COMMENT on my last editorial by Wilbur Goolkasian of Umpqua, Oregon.

He wrote . . . “The sad thing is that we (the United States) have allowed to exist thousands of Blacks to breed thousands of illegit children . . . “

Nazis said the same thing about JEWS “breeding” illegitimate children.

1 – There is no such thing as an ILLEGITIMATE child.

2 – By referring to these people “BREEDING”, it reduces human beings to the status of animals. Something the NAZIS also attributed to the Jews.

No one more than I will call it for what it is. I see reverse racism in America as a huge problem. And I have fought against all forms of Affirmative Action for as long as I can remember, simply because it is racism under a more acceptable name.

And I hold no sympathy for people who use RACE as an excuse for everything, especially in a country as wonderful and FREE as is America. BUT I just won’t have that kind of expression used by Wilbur Goolkasian of Umpqua, Oregon or anyone else on my BLOG.

FINALLY . . . HERE’S THE REST OF OUR STORY:

As the world continues to erupt from everywhere, Anne and I have decided to extricate ourselves as best as we can from at least the MESS caused by our governments, the Bureaucrats and the ghastly LEFT.

THE BIGGEST ENTITLEMENT OF THEM ALL:

As I’ve written in the past, we are simply fed-up with playing the TAX and SPEND game, which has become an acceptable part of our existence. You know . . . the government taxes US for all they can get, and then spends OUR MONEY as if they’ve somehow earned it.

We no longer want to contribute to what I consider to be borderline criminal salaries, perks, and pensions of the Public Sector, who retire in their 50’s . . . TAKING more money in retirement than most working families earn.

We no longer want to pay obscene property taxes for services that we don’t need, want or even receive.

We don’t want to pay $10,000 per year for energy costs . . . ONLY because some JACK-ASS in government wants to prove how GREEN he or she is.

We no longer want to be EMPLOYERS in a society where the EMPLOYEES call the shots.

And we can no longer physically or psychologically manage the enormous work that is required to maintain the farm, which at one point, before we got older, was a privilege and a pleasure. But not anymore.

I have to groom the horse trails at least twice a year, which takes at least two helpers and myself a week to do each time.

Anne and I don’t want to be cutting the grass any more, which has to be done just about every 5 days from May to August, which takes the two of us a full day, using a large tractor, a zero turn tractor, two push movers and commercial weed eaters.

I don’t want to be shoveling and blowing snow all winter long. ACTUALLY . . . we no longer want to bear yet another Canadian winter.

SO THIS IS WHAT ANNE AND I HAVE DONE:

1 – We sold the Farm and all of the unbearable work and costs.

2 – We are moving our horses to a wonderful Equestrian Center owned by a couple who are very good friends, and have been for many years.

3 – We bought a gorgeous 36-foot FIVE STAR RV (tag along) and a new F-150 Pick-Up truck.

4 – We’ve negotiated a fully comprehensive CELL Service that allows us to use our two cell phones anywhere in North America (Canada and the USA) with unlimited calling and texting.

5 – We’ve made our business (Anne’s Ad Agency) 100% mobile, able to function back into Canada from wherever we will be.

6 – And we chose a GREAT RV Resort where we intend to live for up to SIX months during the winter (from mid October to mid April).

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE – that the MONTHLY cost of this RESORT . . . with everything included: “rent”, light, heat, electricity, high speed WiFi, cable, two swimming pools, fitness center, recreation center, dog run . . . etc – is LESS per month, than JUST the energy bill we’ve been paying on the farm per month.

ANNE AND I ARE CANADIANS WHO HAVE A GREAT LOVE FOR THE USA:

As much as we love America, we are still Canadians, and if there was some way to have dual citizenship we would do that in a flash. And as much as we would like to spend 12-months a year in the USA, at this juncture, it is simply not practical.

THERE’S ALSO A HEALTHCARE ISSUE:

I looked into OBAMACARE for Anne and myself, and was AGHAST at the cost and OBAMACARE’S horrible options. For Anne and myself, the cost was $1200 per MONTH combined ($14,400 per year) with a $6000 deductible EACH, before any of the healthcare kicked-in.

And this only covered catastrophic medical needs. No doctor visits. No medications. No dentistry. No ophthalmology . . . JUST ABOUT NOTHING.

THANK GOD FOR CANADIAN HEALTHCARE . . . BLEMISHES AND ALL:

Because we are Canadians, especially living in Ontario, Canadian Blue Cross will cover Anne and myself to the tune of FIVE MILLION Dollars each, for any emergency outside of the country, with NO DEDUCTIBLE WHATSOEVER, for a total of SEVEN months outside of Canada, at an annual cost of just $1,800 COMBINED.

HAVING OUR CAKE AND EATING IT TOO:

After giving this incredible change of LIFESTYLE as much thought as we possibly could, Anne and I came to this conclusion . . . Not only will we want to enjoy this lifestyle in the USA, we also want to enjoy it in Canada.

SO . . . over the past week, I’ve been working with our friend, who owns the Equestrian Center where we will be moving our horses, to construct two 12-foot by 16-foot covered shelters on concrete floors, so, when the horses are not in the barn, they will have FIVE-Star living in their own half acre paddock as they do now.

BUT EVEN BETTER THAN THAT . . . the deal, is that we are also constructing a permanent RV Parking area next to this paddock, with all the Bells and Whistles, just like the Resort we will be staying at in the USA for the same amount of cost.

This way, we get to be with our horses as usual. And more than that, since Anne and I don’t really ride that much anymore, the horses . . . after many years of doing nothing, will finally get properly exercised and mentally stimulated.

AND MORE LIKELY THAN NOT . . . Anne will probably start riding again in our friend’s Covered Arena. And even I might get in the saddle from time to time to head out on some trail rides. This is not a bad way to spend the Spring through Autumn.

SO . . . WHERE ARE WE GOING IN THE USA?

Since I announced that Anne and I would really like to spend our winters in America, and perhaps move South full time, we have been INUNDATED with suggestions and requests where we should live.

As I’ve written in the past, we’ve even been offered FREE land and no shortage of invitations to stay with people at their personal homes. ALL OF WHICH WERE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

We seriously weighed the pros and cons of just about all the warm weather States, choosing our final destination by the process of elimination.

We ruled out California for several reasons: It is too far to drive. There are too many nut-jobs in California. And the costs of living in California simply weren’t worth it.

We ruled out Arizona, even though we love the State, as do many vacationing Canadians do. But, it is also a bit too far.

On the East Coast, we ruled out Georgia, which is a State we really like, but like the Carolina’s, the weather can get cold and rainy with a chance of ice and snow.

We ruled out Florida, even though Florida has a great deal to offer, because it is too humid, even in the north, and is susceptible to too much rain.

There were also other Southern States like Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama that didn’t quite meet our lifestyle. And Arkansas’ weather is too unpredictable for the winter.

SO HERE IT IS . . . ANNE AND I LOVE TEXAS – AND SO DOES STRYKER:

We decided on Texas for a host of reasons:

1 – The weather where we will be staying is perfect for us, near Austin, where the winter daytime temperature doesn’t climb much more than 70-Degrees. And at night, doesn’t fall much lower than the 40’s.

2 – We LOVE the Texas attitude, and are REALLY comfortable with Texas Style BBQ. I know this sounds a bit frivolous, but it’s really hard to find better BBQ anywhere else.

3 – And like many Southern States, Texas is very gun-friendly, where we can take our guns and continue to practice at shooting ranges, of which there are many in Texas with the fewest number of hassles.

IT’S ALL DONE:

We’ve made the reservations at the Texas Resort where we will be staying at La Hacienda RV Resort. We’ve purchased the Blue Cross Insurance. We have the ATF certificates allowing us to bring our Pistols into the USA. And we will be moving the two horses and the pony to their new home this weekend.

The only question remaining . . . is when do we go?

Anne is leaning towards mid to late October. I prefer to leave right after Remembrance Day (November 11th), so I can pay my respects to my WWII Hero Dad at the cemetery in Montreal, where he and my Mom are buried side by side.

But, by mid November, we can see some miserable weather hitting Canada and some of the North Eastern US States, which we will have to drive through on the way to Texas. So, at this moment, it’s kind of up in the air.

HERE’S A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

Many of the readers of this BLOG are concerned that our change in LIFESTYLE will change how, when, and how often I will write this BLOG and participate in Social/Political Activism. DON’T WORRY!

If anything, this LIFESTYLE change FREES me to be even that much more active and involved. It even gives Anne more time to run her Ad Agency, since she, like me, won’t be spending at LEAST several days per week just tending to the farm.

We don’t know if this lifestyle will work out for us. We think it will. And we think we will LOVE it. But, if it does not, there will be nothing stopping us from going back to a more conventional way of living.

In any case, being in our MID-SIXTIES, this will be one incredible adventure.

PS – Next week is the Pledge Ride. Anne and I will be staying in Scranton PA for the first night of the RIDE on Friday August 29, 2014.

I will be posting where we will be staying on route for the ride, specifically in Atlanta and Boca Raton, where people have expressed an interest in meeting me. We’ll make that happen over coffee and desserts at the hotels where we will be staying.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 2014:

We still have SOME seats available for the BOCA Banquet at a cost of $75 per seat.

The Banquet is an all you can eat buffet including refreshments. And more than that, Joyce Kaufman of WFTL Radio in Florida will be the emcee, with Pamela Geller as our guest speaker. The two of them, each on their own are worth the price of the Banquet.

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet Pastor Gary Burd and his beautiful wife Carolyn, of the M-25 Mission of Hope Riders.

And of course . . . Anne, Stryker and I will be there too.

THE PLEDGE EVENT OF NEVER AGAIN IS FREE:

If you cannot make it to the banquet, please come to the actual Pledge Event at 5 o’clock in the parking Lot of the Boca Marriott Boca Center Hotel, where the PLEDGE of NEVER AGAIN will be delivered in front of a Holocaust Era Boxcar, imported by the Naples Holocaust Museum, and brought across the State to Boca just for this event.

AND NOW YOU KNOW THE WHOLE STORY.

Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

  1. When I ran for Congress the ONE thing that really made an impression on me was that I HAD to have a position on every issue and having one allowed me to chop my hapless primary opponent (favored by the Republican establishment in 2010) to bits. You cannot hem and haw in politics. People will vote for you even if they don’t agree with you on every issue, but they will NEVER vote for someone who doesn’t have the courage of their convictions. That’s why Ted Cruz will be our next POTUS.
