The Glory Of The South – THE CIVIL WAR’S NOT DONE

DISTORTION OF HISTORY IS BUILT ON LIES, IGNORANCE, AND RACISM:

I read and reread the entire script of the REBEL tune called DIXIE-LAND, used as an ANTHEM by Southern Troops during the War Between the States. And not in any of the many verses, did I read a single word about Slavery . . . or against the Blacks.

Click here to read all the versus of DIXIE:

Outnumbered, Outspent, Outgunned . . . There never was a greater, braver, or more passionate FIGHTING FORCE anywhere on modern earth, than the Confederates, who were in my opinion the best America had then and now.

These folk were not, AND ARE STILL NOT the kind of people who CUT AND RUN, or surrender their values no matter how hard it gets.

Click here to see and hear a snapshot of the South FIGHTING for FREEDOM:

History is replete with incredible battles and skirmishes fought by the South to save and preserve their territory, values, and way of life from Northern USURPERS. And unlike the North, which wanted to control the South, all the South wanted was nothing more than to be left alone.

FORGET SLAVERY . . . It was not the reason for the Civil War. Slavery was practiced by very few in the South, with the greatest benefit going to the Northern Industrial Class, while the average Southerner worked hard to make a living and build their society without Slaves.

AND EVEN WITH SLAVERY . . . it was not sustainable, as most of the South was moving away from the costs and horrors of owning Human Beings, while the rest of the South’s Global Market was not in favor of such a vile trade.

SLAVERY WAS THE NORTH’S EXCUSE TO GO TO WAR . . . NOT THE REASON:

One way or the other, Slavery in America was on the way-out, EXCEPT, it made a tremendous excuse to go to war against a FREE and different society from Northern Carpetbaggers.

AND LET ME TELL YOU THIS . . . Man for Man, Soldier for Soldier, Cavalry Rider for Calvary Rider, General for General, Courage for Courage – THE NORTH HAD NOTHING ON THE SOUTH.

Had the South had the wealth and manpower of the North, America might be whistling DIXIE today, rather than singing the Battle Hymn Of The Republic.

LIVING AMONGST HISTORY BROUGHT TEARS OF REVERENCE TO OUR EYES:

Anne and I traveled the length and breath of the South, from the Mason Dixon Line to the Heartland of Texas. We visited, walked and climbed the hills and ramparts of some of the most Famous Civil War Battlefields, absorbing the history, culture and mood of the time.

And had we been part of the South when war was declared in 1861, I would have been wearing Grey and Shouting the REBEL YELL, as I too would have stormed the Northern barricades and defended the Land of Dixie.

THE LIES AGAINST THE SOUTH:

I grew-up as a Liberal, watching Hollywood Movies, seeing how backward was the South. And as a young and fairly observant Jewish Boy, I was led to believe that the South was a vipers’ den of Jew Hatred.

And then I started looking into Jewish History in the Deep South at the time of the Civil War, and quickly discovered how the VAST MAJORITY of Southern Jews gave it their all for DIXIE.

And how the South repaid and honored their Jewish Rebels with the ONLY Jewish Military Cemetery (Richmond VA) outside of Israel, and how General Robert E Lee encouraged Moses Jacob Ezekiel, the first Jew who went to the Virginia Military Institute, distinguishing himself in battle, to use his incredible gift of ART to become an extraordinary sculptor.

AND AFTER ALL THE DUST SETTLED – IT WAS EZEKIEL . . . who created the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, which the LEFTIST BIGOTS now want removed.

DISTORTION OF HISTORY IS BUILT ON LIES, IGNORANCE, AND RACISM:

America is under attack on multiple fronts:

1 – LIES . . . It doesn’t matter whether it is part of Media coverage, our educational system, and/or politicians, because the American people of all ages are being fed a deluge of lies about the South, the Civil War and Southern Heritage.

2 – IGNORANCE . . . Because of distorted history, and no will on the behalf of the LEFT to set the record straight, the entire Confederacy, not just the Slave Traders is being treated as if it was the precursor to Nazis.

3 – RACISM . . . It’s all well and good for the LEFT to ALWAYS focus on racism to demagogue their adversaries, WHEN IN TRUTH, the real racists are amongst the LEFT, who are indeed poisoning the American Well through their lies and MIS-TEACHING of history, even after more than 150-years have past since the GRAY fought the BLUE.

AND THE REASON FOR THE RESURGENCE OF HATRED FOR THE SOUTH:

As America falls cataclysmically toward National Suicide, because of the LEFT’S surge for Socialism and their selective desecration of the Constitution, and as they work at overtime to rule and control through government FIAT and Presidential Executive Actions, it seems the greatest obstacle left to stop them is STATES’ RIGHTS, which harkens back to the CONFEDERACY AND 1861.

When Anne and I return to the USA in November, we’ll be flying the Stars and Bars with the Stars and Stripes, the Red Maple Leaf and the Lone Star of Texas.

Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

  1. I see I’m able to post on this one. Those five guys you mentioned above are pathetic. Yes, liberalism is a disease.

  2. Much the same dialogue can be said of Canada today. The French deny true history, have implemented mandatory bilingualism to hijack the government and take control of Public Services, employ mostly Francophones for major events like the Olympics etc, have Francophones staffing Foreign Embassies, use bold signs with French text larger than English, all in an attempt to make the world believe Canada is a French country. Americans note: outside of Quebec, Canada is 96% English speaking.

  3. Well written, Howard. I agree totally with what was written in this article. Makes me think of The Band’s tune, “The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down.” Even walking the fields of Gettysburg today you feel the apprehension of issues still not resolved between the states.

  4. Born in Louisiana and grew up in Texas, and now living in Rochester Hills, Mi. Wow! Thanks Howard for the Article! At age 72 it helps me remember my pride in my homeland.

  5. Thanks Howard, as long as there will be a USA this issue, with its spinoffs will continue. Leaders like Reagan, president of all, & etcetera others like him will quell the black & white divide in an exemplary way. Then others like Obama, a natural born racist & his wife, will stoke the fires at every opportunity. So, America, its up to you. What kind of leadership do you wish to support for the sake of our future generations?

  6. It wasn’t till we moved to NC that I learned much which contradicted my school teaching’s in the Bronx re:the South. Jewish history I learned blessed me throughout my youth. Was ostracized for that. After learning of the South’s history I also stated I would have put on the Grey. The root word of racism is “Prejudice” that’s a heart matter people! No law can change that unless your weak willed. Our moral fiber is unraveling. The states should dictate to Washington!Supreme Ct? God Forgive America!

  7. ABBEVILLE, SC ABBEVILLE, SC

The first shot of the Civil was fired in Charleston. But the decision to go to war against the North was made in Abbeville, SC. And it is also the location where the Confederacy was finally dissolved, after Lee surrendered to Grant.
John C. Calhoun was from Abbeville. He warned against an omnipotent Federal Gov’t. He knew where it would lead.
    We are now there.

  8. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Texas declare independence, followed by the rest of the South. Nor would I blame them. There is no other way to deal with the wildly out-of-control descent into Leftist oppression. If I weren’t firmly planted in a poor, rural community in Kalifornia, where our service to the community with a supermarket/general store is critically needed, I would be sorely tempted to move to the South or Texas to help fight the battle.

  9. I often agree with Howard, however, I cannot here. For over 50 years I’ve been hearing southern apologists argue the U.S. civil war wasn’t about slavery. The data doesn’t support it. There were many “issues” (as there are today) among states, however, the sole, irresolvable dispute was over slavery; which effectively concentrated wealth among large slave-holding plantations, and otherwise strangled the free economy of the south. It was the South which started the war, not the north.

  10. The leftists try to tell us that all of the racism and prejudice is in the south. I grew up in NJ, and the first time I had a full time job, one of the first expressions I heard was how one of my co-workers got a good price on his new car because he could, “Jew them down.” I heard that many times growing up, among other expressions, but I didn’t go to court over it, nor did I expect them to to mitigate their racism. However, this racism was not limited to white people, and still isn’t.

  11. A friend recently posted a comment n Facebook, saying “Other countries are laughing at us.”, and someone asked “Why?” to which I replied,.. “Because we are so unreliable as a friend, so self obsessed with being ‘politically correct’, so paralyzed we can not govern ourselves, no manage our finances,…for starters!”
Those my thoughts and I’m sticking to them!!

  12. Thank you Howard for learning and understanding the past and the situation now. I am proud of the people of Charleston who came together to address the problem in an objective manner as opposed to the way of the racist liberals.

  13. If recent history continues on it’s present path. Texas will secede. If you are a freedom loving conservative, black or white, get on down here. Notice I didn’t exclude Canadians….

  14. Without slavery there would have been no secession. Without secession there would have been no civil war. Secession over slavery was the cause. No slavery, no secession and no war.
Tom Kelly Naples Florida and Greenport NY

  15. Thank you Howard. Once again, an outstanding article filled with facts about a war that had many issues that led to it but one overriding issue that tipped the scales into outright aggression. Ultimately, the overriding issue was STATES RIGHTS. Plain and simple, STATES RIGHTS. And it is boiling over again today to be an issue of THE STATES RIGHTS.

  16. The Left and the Media took a tragic shooting by a nut-case and managed to blame the whole thing on a piece of cloth….a symbol….and the South. The ignorance and jump on the band-wagon appeal, has, as expected, CHANGED TO SUBJECT by making an entire race appear to be the victim and an entire section of our Country into a villain.

  17. Right on, Howard, Slavery was made an exaggerated issue by N. E. liberal writers of the time; Mark Twain, etc. The real issue was state’s rights. Had the South won, we would be living in a much different nation today. Our monstrous, huge federal gov’t. was (is) the danger seen by Calhoun & Southern leaders. Slavery would have been abolished by 1885 if nothing was done-it would have died a natural death. It’s a shame what is being done to heritage/history by leftist lies.

  18. Was not the catalyst for secession the election of an abolitionist president? Was not the first major confrontation by the Confederates upon the Federal Fort Sumter? I’m proud to be a citizen of Alabama and revel in its heritage, but let’s tell the whole story and let people form their own conclusions. Otherwise we are no better than Common Core’s erroneous social messages and the Advanced Placement U.S. History’s “politically correct” themes.

  19. Well said. I might add….contrary to the opinion Mr. Kelly stated earlier….secession was not about slavery. It was states’ rights. And. Lincoln’s 1861 cause was not slavery – it was his view of preserving the union. He did not bring in the slavery issue until 1863. The north was tired of the war, and were about to vote him out in 1864. He needed a cause, and he chose slavery. That brought the abolitionist support that got him re-elected.

  20. The comment then or now serves no useful purpose! The majority of the bleeding in conflicts going back to Vietnam has NOT been contributed by residents of New England, the rust belt, the corn belt, the great plains and the left coast. Who remains?

  21. ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF PLANTATION OWNERS OF SLAVES WERE BLACK. TRUE! THE COTTON GIN HAD BEEN INVENTED. THEY DID NOT NEED THE BLACKS BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM. AFTER THE WAR GEN. ULYSSES GRANT AND PRES. LINCOLN WORKED ON HOW TO RETURN THEM TO THE BAHAMAS WHERE THEY WERE SOLD OR HAVE THEM RETURNED TO AFRICA WHERE THEY WERE SOLD BY THEIR BLACK TIBE – THE ASHANTI TRIBE. NO ONE WOULD TAKE THEM OR WANTED THEM – NOT EVEN THE ASHANTI TIRBE. THESE BLACKS ARE THE MOST PAMPERED IN THE WORL

  22. Howard … As a fellow Canadian and south eastern Ontarian as well as a history buff, I too support the south. I had an interesting discussion with an American civil war re-enactor from the north a few years ago at Gettysburg who told me that the more he was involved with reenactments and learned more about the history that he too became a southern sympathizer. I was fortunate enough to attend the 150th anniversary of the battle at Gettysburg where there were over 10,000 re-enactors.

  23. re: Tom Cochran After reading your comment all that I can say is look at every other country and show me one that is significantly different. The western world in particular is a bunch of hypocrites. Look at how the west treats Israel.

  24. K Davies Well said , Canada has been hijacked by Que and ruined in the process. Anglos in Canada are second class citizens and are excluded from employment in Que and in Eastern Ontario at all levels including the private sector and at the National as to employment in Federal jobs. Want to talk racism , as a Canadian you do not have to look to the South.
We are living it and it is never going away ! By the way Anglos pay the bill as well , Que is very unproductive and a leech Province.

  25. Howard, thank you so much for your kind and truthful words. Being born here in the South we still have to fight the Civil War, on a much more benign level , but still battle nonetheless. We are accused of inbreeding, abject ignorance, a backwards way of life detached from modern day reality. You Howard are the first person I know who tells the truth about how and why the war was started. IT WAS OVER STATES RIGHTS…NOT SLAVERY. You and Ms. Anne are more than welcomed to come and live among us !

  26. Well written sir. you brought a tear to my eye.
You can have my back anytime.

  27. Being a yankee having lived here in the South most of my life, I have seen the lies you speak of here. I have ordered another two Stars and Bars and will proudly let them catch the breezes on the front of my house from the ocean air! May catch hell from the wife but letting her read this article will calm her down!

  28. I’m a 5th generation Southern gal trapped in the Yankee HELL of Illinois. Can’t wait to move full-time to my Louisiana home.

  29. A marvelous article, Mr. Galganov. As you and your readers know, the victors in a war write the history, so the South has been reviled since the end of the War. The War of Northern Aggression was fought by people defending their homeland against a ruthless invader. How many Yankee cities were burned, how many country homes destroyed with their occupants standing on the grounds, watching? How many women and children were shipped off to prison camps? All of this happened to the South.

  30. As a Southerner, I thank you for this, Mr. G. The person who wrote “Dixie” was a freed slave from Maryland, having belonged to my family, been educated, freed and given the choice to live on the manor with an acre of land and a mule as a free person. She or her family wanted to live in Ohio, and then she wrote the song, using cotton (not a crop in Maryland) for the rhyme. I found this out via the Sunpaper in the late 1990’s. The South fought to maintain the Republic, which Lincoln destroyed.

  31. The people of the South were maneuvered into war by the wealthy elite to maintain their State rights to continue to have and expand Slavery. I am not a professional historian but have read and studied much about the early years of our Republic. For what it’s worth, my opinion is there would never have been a seccesion or a war except for the institution of slavery. Read the Congressional speaches (Library of Congress)of the hotheads on both sides of this issue starting 25 yrs prior to the war.
